Mods required are reaming and opening up receiver pin point, removing material from inside the stock so barrel and action will fit, removing a small amount of material so LRHO will function, shaving off material from bottom of bolt buffer cover, and re-contouring the upper fore grip to fit this is the 9mm difficult and time consuming of the mods. It took me stock 4 hours of time at an enjoyable leisurely pace to accomplish. I also machined the front carbine post so 9mm can be used with the rear sight mounted directly on the receiver cover and still have the adjustment at middle of marks optional. This entailed shortening, then drilling and tapping a new adjustment bolt hole in the front sight post. Also the sides of the post I milled flat 9mm the original was sloped and would prevent the sight post from dropping down in the mount all the way. I hope this makes sense. Once you stock done the end result is nothing short of a complete transformation of the original rifle. There was a little bit of filing inside the magwell so that the 10 round factory mags drop carbine when the mag release is depressed, a little more filing on the rear receiver cover so that the gigantic bolt of these carbines would slide freely and a little filing on the holes that mount the receiver to the options and hold the 9mm cover in place. The reciever cover supplied with the stock, covers the back stroke of the bolt, rubbed the bolt. It would catch the bolt. Again with the dremel and now it clears just fine. I'm into this rifle less than bucks now and it looks and works great. Hi Point carbines are great cheap guns, but rather ugly. This stock fixes that.
